Panther Computers now only provides support for Linux, Windows XP, and Windows Vista/Seven machines.  This means we will no longer provide repair services for machines running DOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000.  These machines are usually at least 7 years or older and much of the computing world no longer supports or creates software for these machines.  The Panther Tuneup cannot be performed on these machines, nor can you get security updates that can ensure a reasonably safe internet experience.

In addition to this change we will no longer work on machines with out a legal license sticker on the outside of the machine, unless proof is provided that you have a legal copy of the operating system, or it is a Linux machine that requires no such license.  If another cyber guy or friend of a friend upgraded you to XP or Vista as a "favor" Microsoft has the Windows Genuine Advantage (http://www.microsoft.com/Genuine/) program that allows people that were taken advantage of to make their copies legitimate for a small fee.  Panther Computers will assist you if you need help. The machines with the older operating systems are usually more costly to repair and less reliably so than if you spent the same money towards the purchase of a new, or newer used computer that has at least Windows XP on it.  With the days of Windows XP numbered, and the newest Microsoft operating system (Windows 7) approximately a year away, it is time to serve our customers best by concentrating on what is cost effective and most timely to repair.

For businesses and individuals with the DIY (Do-it yoursel) ability, we continue to have new parts available that are likely compatible with your systems.  We may have used parts occaisionally to help meet your needs as well as we recycle the older sytems

I've often used the expression that "if your hammer still nails nails, why replace it"  This is still true for these older systems, as long as they work,.  However as they need repair, virus removal, or even upgraded you will likely find that even using a guy with a magnetic sign on the side of his vehicle will be more costly (and usually is) than just looking at a newer system.
